Ennis Mart – Cattle Prices – 04-10-2022
According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, just under 1,100 lots came under the hammer at its most recent sale on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022.
The spokesperson noted that trade “held pretty steady, but cattle were no dearer”.
“In saying that, some of the quality lots in both rings were a serious trade.”
“It was nearly all farmer customers in both rings with very little shipping activity and this was limited to the bull ring.”
The sale saw suckler cows and calves today hit €3,180 for pairs, while in-calf lots soared to €2,120.
A dozen calves fetched up to €400 for a Limousin heifer calf, while runner heifers sold to €840, and bulls topped out at €940.

Last week’s cattle prices
According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, almost 1,000 cattle crossed the scales at its cattle sale on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022.
They noted that plainer lighter, heifers continued to “be a hard sell” while quality bull weanlings met with a “fine” trade.
A special entry of in-calf heifers from two farmers ranged from €2,000 to €2,450, while a small entry of mostly continental suck calves peaked at €530.
