Castlerea Mart report – cattle prices – 30-09-2021
According to Brendan Egan, a “large” entry of stock turned out for Castlerea Mart’s annual show and sale of Aberdeen Angus heifers in conjunction with its usual sale.
The mart manager reported that the heifer trade remained “very strong” with a good attendance of customers present resulting in a good clearance.
Top-quality stores reached €3.00/kg, while heavier lots climbed up to €2.88/kg.
“The weanling rings reported very strong demand this week. Bulls peaked at €4.13/kg, while heifer weanlings peaked at €3.89/kg.”
“Dry cows topped out at €2050, while cows with calves at foot made up to €2,510 for a Charolais cow and her Aberdeen Angus bull calf at foot.”
“Calves and runners met a lively trade as farmers were out in force replacing sold lots,” he added.

Bullocks 27-09-2021:
The mart held its annual show and sale of Angus bullocks on Monday, September 27th.
Egan reported that 350 entries were on offer. “A fine yard of stock met with a flier of a trade with AA bullocks peaking at €2.92/kg and heavier lots making up to €1790.”
