According to Brendan Egan, a larger entry went under the hammer at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, May 27th, 2021.

The mart manager reported that a “good” attendance of customers for stock for further feeding maintained last week’s “good” trade.

“The bullock trade reported some fancy prices for the quality lots, the lighter store bullocks made up to €3.03/kg. The heavier lots peaked at €1,930.”

“The heifer trade was similar to last week with good demand from feeders, farmers and Northern agents. While the weanling rings reported good clearances with bulls peaking at €3.30/kg and heifer weanlings peaking at €3.18/kg.”

“The dry cow trade is holding well with very good prices on offer for the forward cows with cows making up to €2,010 and more store cows seem to be coming on stream at the moment.”
