Cattle from €40-€2,380 at Castlerea Mart

Castlerea Mart – cattle prices – 27-01-2022

According to Brendan Egan, over 500 lots passed through the rings at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, January 27th, 2022 (27-01-2022).

The mart manager reported that trade remained “very strong” for all classes of stock on offer.

He explained that the bullock ring, with increased lots on offer, saw stores peak at €2.84/kg with heavier lots to €2,090.

“The heifer ring noticed price increases this week, especially for top-quality stores with lots peaking at €3.15/kg. Meanwhile, the dry cow ring saw prices peak at €2,380 and quality forward cows made up to €2.46/kg.”

“The weanling rings, with increased numbers on offer, has witnessed excellent demand. This was reflected in the prices on offer. Bulls made up to €3.07/kg, and heifers topped out at €3.34/kg.”

“Breeding stock and the calf ring both witnessed excellent clearances, while runners sold to €680,” Egan added.
