Last week’s sale

A larger entry was presented for sale at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, February 18th, according to Brendan Egan.

The mart manager noted that cattle met with a “good trade all-round”, especially for quality lots.

“The bullock and heifer rings, aided by strong Northern demand and farmer activity, noticed some fancy prices given for the quality lots.”

“In the weanling rings, prices are continuing to rise, especially for the weanling heifers. The number of customers seeking stock continues to grow.”

“Larger numbers of suck calves on offer this week with quality determining the price paid. Dry cows continue to be a good trade and breeding stock in demand also, with springers peaking at €2,080.” Egan added.
