Teams to €2,120 and culls to €2,020 at Castlerea Mart

Castlerea Mart report – cattle prices – 17-06-2021

According to Brendan Egan, a “good entry of stock” went under the hammer at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, June 17th, 2021.

The mart manager reported that lots made up to €2,120 – a price that was recorded for a Charolais cow with a Limousin heifer calf at foot.

“Sellers went home happy as all three rings reported an excellent trade with prices and demand maintained for all categories of stock.

“Both the bullock and heifer rings reported excellent clearance with bullocks peaking at €2.68/kilo and heifers reaching €3.11/kilo.”

“The weanling rings, with better quality lots on offer this week, saw bulls reach €3.25 a kilo and heifers peak at €3.59 a kilo.”

“The dry cow trade remained strong this week with lots making up to €2,020. Fewer calves were presented for sale but a flier of a trade with lots making from €110 to €700 for stronger runner types,” Egan added.
