Castlerea Mart – Cattle Prices – 16-02-2023

According to Brendan Egan, “trade remained buoyant” at Castlerea Mart’s general cattle sale on Thursday, February 16^th, 2023.

The mart manager reported that farmers, agents, exporters, and northern demand were all “very active” at the moment.

Egan commented: “There was a large attendance of ringside and online buyers, who were very active.”

Bullocks soared to €2,460, while heifers made up to €2,910 and cull cows climbed to €2,240.

The weanlings, with increased numbers on offer, witnessed bulls peak at €4.18/kg, while heifer weanlings topped out at €3.97/kg.

According to Egan, increased numbers of suck calves resulted in a good clearance, while breeding stock made up to €2500.
