Castlerea: Trade ‘finishes on a high note’ with prices to €2,050

Castlerea Mart Report – Cattle Prices – 15-12-2022

According to Brendan Egan, despite sub-zero temperatures, over 400 cattle turned out for Castlerea Mart’s final sale of the year on Thursday, December 15^th, 2022.

The mart manager reported that “trade finished on a very high note for all those who presented stock for sale”.

He outlined that the weanlings ring witnessed bulls make up to €3.92/kg, while heifer weanlings reached €4.24/kg. Store heifers soared to €3.34/kg, while forward lots peaked at €2050.

Dry cows topped out at €1950, while Egan reported an “excellent” clearance in the runner rings.

He commented: “Sales return to Castlerea Mart on Thursday, January 12^th, 2023, with a sale of bullocks, heifers, cows, calves, runners and weanlings, including a dispersal sale of 25 springers and 20 weanlings.”

“Castlerea Mart would like to wish all its customers a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year,” Egan concluded.
