Carnew Mart – 29-01-2022

According to David Quinn, Carnew Mart’s heifer fatstock show and sale on Saturday, January 29^th, 2022 “broke all records to date”.

The mart manager reported there were customers from all over the country with a “very strong” northern base around the ring.

Speaking following the sale, he said: “There was a serious yard of stock on offer of the highest quality.”

“Top-quality stock in all classes were a credit to all their producers. There were customers from all over the country with a very strong northern base around the ring.”

“On the day, 40 cattle sold for over €2,000, while 6 cattle sold for over €3,000. There were two record-breaking prices on the day: €3,850 for a beef heifer and €7.87/kg for a weanling heifer,” he commented.

“A few prices really drew the crowd’s attention 394kg BBX heifer selling for €3,100. A 702kg Belgian-Blue-cross heifer sold for €3600; a 684kg LMX changed hands for €3,480.”

“The top price of the day going to a 794kg Belgian-Blue-cross heifer selling for €3,850 sold by the same producer, who sold last week’s bullock that made €3000.”
