Carnew Mart – cattle prices – 20-11-2021

According to David Quinn, a smaller entry comprising 600 cattle and 100 calves went under the hammer at Carnew Mart on Saturday, November 20^th, 2021.

The mart manager reported that all types improved by €20/€30 per head.

He said there was a “stronger demand” for beef and forward cattle, with dry cows selling to a top price of €2260 for 884kgs.

Carnew Mart 20-11-2021:

• Continental beef bullocks – €1600- €1980;
• Continental store bullocks – €1050 – €1600;
• FR bullocks – €850 – €1300;
• Beef heifers – €1350- €1780.

Cull cow prices:

• LM – 884kg at 2060;
• HE – 722kg at €1320;
• AA – 810kg at €1520;
• CH – 730kg at €1450.

Heifer prices:

• 2 HE – 502kg at €1100;
• 1 CH – 680kg at €1750;
• 2 CH – 680kg at €1630;
• 1 CH – 760kg at €1680;
• 2 CH – 640kg at €1590;
• 3 LM – 536kg at €1280;
• 2 HE – 537kg at €1130;
• 2 CH – 514kg at €1140;
• 4 HE – 447kg at €900;
• 6 LM – 380kg at €970;
• 2 HE – 480kg at €970;
• 6 LM – 430kg at €960;
• 2 HE – 577kg at €1250.

Dairy prices 19-11-2021:

The mart manager outlined that 150 lots were on offer at its dairy sale on November 19^th, 2021.

“A steady trade led to a full clearance with quality lots meeting at super trade top price of the day €2,540,” he remarked.

• Freshly calved heifers: €1400 – €2540;
• Freshly calved cows: €1100 – €1500;
• Spring-calved cows: €800 – €1000;
• Spring-calving heifers: €900 – €1450;
• Heifer calves: €350-€450.

Dry cow prices 19-11-2021:

Quinn said that dry cows were up €20-€30/head at Friday’s (November 19^th, 2021), sale, which saw some 250 lots pass through the ring.

• Continentals: €1350 -€1800;
• Beef-types: €1050 – €1380;
• Continental stores: €750 -€1220;
• Fr stores over 600kgs: €680-€1100;
• Fr stores under 600kgs: €480-€850.

Weanling prices 17-11-2021:

David reported that the mart’s final evening weanling sale on November 17^th, 2021, attracted some 270 entries.

He said there was “excellent” demand from export and farmer customers.

• Bulls over 400kg   €850 – €1280;
• Bulls under 400kg €580 – €1100;
• Heifers over 400kg €830- €1160;
• Heifers under 400kg €520 – €960.

• • Thursday Ring 1– Sheep sale commencing at 10:00am ringside and online.
  • Friday Ring 1– Dry cows commencing at 4.00pm – depending on time of year
  • Saturday Ring 1– Dry cows commencing at 9.30am. Other categories commencing at 10.30am ringside and online.
  • Saturday Ring 2– Calf sale commencing at 11.00am ringside and online

Cattle may be pre-entered by contacting the office on the week prior to sale day or you can enter by using the mart’s online entry system on its website.
