Carnew Mart – Cattle Prices – 04-06-2022
Suckler stock made headline prices of up to €3,200 at Carnew Mart last Saturday (June 4th, 2022).
David Quinn reported that just over 1,100 lots passed through the ring and met with “an electric trade throughout”.
The mart manager explained that stock bulls peaked at €3,200, while pairs hit €2,920 and cull cows topped out at €2,820.
Meanwhile, heifers sold to €2,220, bullocks changed hands for up to €2,310 and bulls over 500kgs hit €2,500.

Suckler pairs and stock bulls
According to Quinn, sucklers met with a “cracking” trade with Limousine cow with calves at foot from €2000 to €2920, while a pedigree Limousin stock bull sold for €3,200.
Crossbred cows with calves at foot sold for between €1500 and €2360.
Calf prices
Calves were a “very lively” trade with many farmers and a “full team” of exporters in attendance.
- HE and AA bulls sold between €235-€365, while heifers made €165-€340;
- Continental bulls sold between €300 and €590, while continental heifers ranged from €250-€500;
- Fr bulls sold from €90-€185.

- Thursday Ring 1– Sheep sale commencing at 10:00am ringside and online.
- Friday Ring 1– Dry cows commencing at 4.00pm – depending on time of year
- Saturday Ring 1– Dry cows commencing at 9.30am. Other categories commencing at 10.30am ringside and online.
- Saturday Ring 2– Calf sale commencing at 11.00am ringside and online
