Blessington Mart – Cattle Prices – 29-09-2202
According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a “very good” trade prevailed for all classes of cattle on 29-09-2022.
The spokesperson noted that customers were active both at its ringside and online, as a larger entry went under the hammer.
Feeding cows made from €250-€480 over, while beef types ranged from €500-€900 over.
Beef heifers fetched from €780-€1,060 over, while continental store heifers varied from €480-€860 over and Angus and Hereford stores ranged from €380-€660 over.
Meanwhile, beef bullocks made from €1,040-€1,360 over the kg, continental stores traded from €530-€1,000 over and Angus and Hereford store bullocks pushed from €400-€690 over.
This week’s sheep prices
According to a spokesperson, a large entry changed hands at its sheep sale on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022.
A “very good” trade prevailed for all types of fat and store lambs, while brood hoggets and Suff-cross ewes met with a “good steady” trade.
- Heavy lambs – €135-€140 or €86-€90 over;
- Factory lambs – €115-€135 or €75-€88 over;
- Store lambs over 40kgs – €100-€115 or €60-€75 over;
- Over 35kgs (store lambs)- €80-€100 or €46-€64 over;
- Over 30kgs (store lambs) – €60-€85 or €30-€56 over;
- Heavy ewes – €120-€150/head:
- Lighter ewes – €72-€116/head;
- Suffolk-cross hogget ewes – €160-€215/head;
- Cheviot-cross 3 and 4-year-old ewes – €120-€205/head:
- Suffolk-cross ewe lambs – €100-€156 or €66-€110 over the kg;
- Cheviot ewe lambs – €80-€126 or €50-€90 over the kg;
- Breeding rams – €200-€540/head.
Last week’s cattle prices
The staging of the National Ploughing Championships resulted in a smaller entry at Blessington Mart on 22-09-2022.
That is according to a spokesperson who reported that all classes of cattle met with a similar trade to the previous week.
Beef cows changed hands from €680-€1,080 over the kg, while feeding types ranged from €240-€570 over.
Meanwhile, beef bullocks made from €1,090-€1,380 over the kg, continental store types went under the hammer from €580-€1,040 over and Hereford and Angus stores ranged from €420-€780 over.
Meanwhile, Friesian store bullocks clicked from €200-€480/head at Thursday’s sale.
In the line of heifers, continental stores found new owners from €480-€860 over the kg, while Hereford and Angus stores made from €360-€650 over the weight.
