Blessington Mart – cattle prices – 20-01-2022

According to a spokesperson, a “very lively” trade prevailed for all classes of cattle – both beef and stores – at Blessington Mart on Thursday, January 20^th, 2022.

Beef bullocks – €860-€1,060 over;

• Continental store bullocks – €660-€980 over;
• HE/AA store bullocks – €540-€800 over;
• Friesian store bullocks – €360-€580 over;
• Continental store heifers – €420-€640 over;
• HE/AA store heifers – €380-€600 over;
• Beef cows – €460-€740 over;
• Feeding cows – €190-€400 over.

This week’s sheep prices

According to the spokesperson, all types of fat and store hoggets met with an easier trade at Tuesday’s (January 18th, 2022) sheep sale.

They reported that heavy fat hoggets were back by €3-€5/head, while store hoggets fell by €2-€3/head.

• Heavy hoggets – €150-€152 or €90-€100 over;
• Factory hoggets – €136-€150 or €88-€100 over;
• Store hoggets over 40kgs – €108-€130 or €77-€91 over;
• Store hoggets over 35kgs – €80-€105 or €45-€70 over;
• Heavy ewes – €140-€176/head;
• Lighter ewes – €86-€136/head.

According to a spokesperson, a small entry of cattle passed through the ring at Blessington Mart on Thursday, January 13^th, 2022.

They reported a “strong” trade for “all” cattle led to a complete clearance.
