Blessington Mart – cattle prices – 13-01-2022
According to a spokesperson, a small entry of cattle passed through the ring at Blessington Mart on Thursday, January 13th, 2022.
They reported a “strong” trade for “all” cattle led to a complete clearance.
Blessington Mart 13-01-2022:
- Continental store bullocks – €480-€1,000 over;
- HE/AA store bullocks – €360-€680 over;
- Friesian store bullocks – €160-€380 over;
- Continental store heifers – €440-€800 over;
- HE/AA store heifers – €340-€580 over;
- Beef cows – €460-€940 over;
- Feeding cows – €180-€400 over.
This week’s sheep prices:
According to a spokesperson, a “lively” trade prevailed for all types of cast ewes at Tuesday’s (January 11th, 2022) sheep sale.
They outlined that fat and store hoggets met with a tougher trade at its weekly sale.
- Heavy hoggets – €156-€162 or €98-€106 over;
- Factory hoggets – €138-€156 or €94-€104 over;
- Store hoggets over 40kgs – €112-€129 or €80-€96 over;
- Heavy ewes – €138-€162/head;
- Lighter ewes – €88-€132/head.
Previous week’s sales
According to a spokesperson, trade was similar to pre-Christmas levels at the mart’s opening sheep sale of 2022 on Tuesday, January 4th.
They reported that there were “lots” of customers for fat and store lambs.
- Heavy hoggets – €164-€168 or €105-€112 over;
- Factory hoggets – €148-€164 or €100-€110 over;
- Store hoggets over 40kgs – €118-€144 or €84-€100 over;
- Heavy ewes – €130-€176/head;
- Lighter ewes – €86-€124/head.
Last sheep sale of 2021:
According to a spokesperson, a small entry went under the hammer at Blessington Mart’s final sheep sale of 2021 on Tuesday, December 21st.
They reported that trade was “a little bit easier” on previous weeks.

- Factory lambs – €140-€160 or €95-€104 over;
- Store lambs over 40kgs – €118-€138 or €84 or €96 over;

- Store lambs over 30kgs – €77-€103 or €47-€64 over;
- Heavy ewes – €130-€162/head;
- Lighter ewes – €86-€136/head.
