Blessington: Bullocks to €1,550 over and ewes with lambs to €300

Blessington Mart – Cattle Prices – 09-06-2022

According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a “very lively” trade prevailed for all classes of livestock, especially forward store bullocks at its cattle sale on Thursday, June 9^th, 2022.

The spokesperson noted that prices ranged from €180 over the weight for Friesian store bullocks, while beef bullocks soared to €1,550 over the kg.

• Beef bullocks – €1,160-€1,550 over the kg;
• Continental store bullocks – €660-€1,120 over the kg;
• HE/AA store bullocks – €480-€900 over the kg;
• Friesian store bullocks – €180-€480 over;
• Continental store heifers – €640-€1,110 over;
• HE/AA store heifers – €460-€910 over;
• Beef cows – €960-€1,500 over;
• Feeding cows – €400-€640 over.

Blessington Mart – Sheep Prices – 07-06-2022

According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a “very good” trade prevailed for all classes of sheep on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022.

The spokesperson reported that this was particularly the case for both cast ewes and fat lambs at its most recent sheep sale.

Ewes with lambs at foot changed hands from €150-€300/unit, while heavy ewes ranged from €188-€250/head and lighter ewes traded from €100-€180/head.

Meanwhile, spring lambs 45kgs+ made from €168-€175 or €116-€125 over the kg, while spring lambs 40kgs+ fetched from €148-€166 or €110-€120 over the weight.

A spokesperson reported that the sale drew “a lot” of ringside and online customers.

• Continental store bullocks – €580-€1,120 over the kg;
• HE/AA store bullocks – €430-€780 over the kg;
• Continental store heifers – €500-€840 over the kg;
• HE/AA store heifers – €460-€740 over;
• Beef cows – €680-€1,100 over;
• Feeding cows – €340-€620 over.

Last week’s sheep prices

According to the spokesperson, spring lambs were up by €1-€2/head on the previous week on May 31^st, 2022.

The spokesperson number that large numbers of cast ewes went under the hammer at its most recent sheep sale.

• Spring lambs over 45kgs – €168-€174 or €108-€123 over the kg;
• 40-40kg spring lambs – €154-€168 or €114-€121 over the kg;
• 35-40kg spring lambs – €130-€152 or €100-€116 over;
• Heavy ewes – €180-€238/head;
• Lighter ewes – €100-€176/head;
• Ewes with lambs at foot – €140-€280/unit.
