Ballymote Mart – Cattle sale prices, Thursday, January 28^th, 2021

There was “excellent” demand for all categories at Ballymote Mart on Thursday, January 28^th, according to a spokesperson.

The mart held a special weanling sale in conjunction with its general cattle sale.

Speaking following the sale, the spokesperson said: “There was a super yard of quality stock on offer.”

“Forward store bullocks and heifers were an excellent trade. Also, breeding-type heifers were very strong with farmer customers and those specialising in autumn in-calf heifer sales very active.”

Ballymote Mart prices

Bullocks under 600 kg made from €500-€800 over:

CHX – 585kg – €1,385;

LMX – 585kg – €1,360;

CHX – 595kg – €1,340.

Heavier lots over 600 kg ranged from €600-€905 over:

• CHX – 695kg -€1,600;
• CHX – 655kg – €1,550;
• CHX – 650kg – €1,550

Heifers under 500 kg sold from €450-€905 over:

• BBX – 485kg – €1,390;
• CHX – 480kg – €1,300;
• LMX – 485kg – €1,300.

Lots 500 to 600 kg pushed from €475-€880 over:

• LMX – 580kg – €1,460;
• BBX – 500kg – €1,290;
• LMX – 525kg – €1,320.

Heavier lots realised €980 over:

• LMX – 660kg – €1,520;
• SIX with breeding potential – 700 kg – €1,680 [main image];
• LMX – 610 kg – €1,480.

Dry cows went under the hammer from €350 (for stores) to €800 over (for fleshed-types):

• SI – 850kg – €1,650;
• SIX – 770kg – €1,420;
• SI – 840kg – €1,580.

Weanling bulls under 300 kg made from €400 to €550 over:

• CHX – 230kg – €780;
• LMX – 265kg – €780;
• LMX – 290kg – 820

Lots 300 to 400 kg ranged from €420 to €815 over:

• BBX – 335kg – €1,150;
• CHX – 395kg – €1,100;
• LMX – 365kg – €1,070.

Heavier lots topped out at €945 over:

• BBX – 435kg – €1380;
• CHX – 450kg – €1,200;
• LMX – 480kg – €1,220.

Weanling heifers under 300 kg fetched from €350 to €695 over:

• BBX – 275kg – €970;
• CHX – 295kg – €870;
• LMX – 260kg – €870.

Lots 300 to 400 kg pushed from €400 to €790 over:

• LMX – 360kg – €1150;
• CHX – 395kg – €1,100;
• LM – 370kg – €1,080;
• LMX – 325kg – €1,060

Heavier lots hit €700 over:

• SIX – 510 KG – €1,200;
