Heifer prices:

Hannon commented: “There were some exceptional breeding heifers which met a more difficult trade; otherwise, the quality heavy ones were holding their own.”

“Heifers up to 400 kg averaged €2.65/kg, while those in the 400kg to 500kg weight bracket levelled at €2.76/kg.”

“Heavy heifers 500+ averaged €2.79p/kg. There was a Charolais-cross breeding heifer weighing 585kg that made €2,800 or €4.79 p/kg, which a farmer from Dromore West sold.”

“Another lighter Limousin heifer, born in March-2021 weighing 655kg, made €2,540 or 3.88/kg from a farmer from Kilmaine,” Hannon added.
