Aurivo Balla – Cattle Prices – 04-03-2023

“Prices remained on high doh,” at Balla Mart’s general cattle sale on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, according to Stephen Hannon.

The general manager of Aurivo Marts and manager of the Mayo-based Balla Mart reported that prices reached €3,000 in the suckler ring, €2,850 in the bull ring, €2,380 in the bullock ring and €2,460 in the dry cow ring.

According to Hannon, bullocks 300kg to 400kg levelled at €3.25/kg, while store types in the 400kg to 500kg weight bracket averaged €3.04/kg.

He commented that “heavier bullocks 500kg were up and averaged €3.00/kg because of additional buyers around the ring buying for the grass”.

“Quality heavy bullocks 700kg+ were making €1,600 to €1,700 with the weight, due to northern, feedlot and online buying online.”
