Heifers reach €2,760 at Balla Mart as turnover hits €1.5m

Balla Mart report – cattle prices – 02-10-2021

According to Stephen Hannon, Aurivo Balla Mart, Co Mayo recorded a turnover of €1.5m at its general cattle sale on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021.

The mart manager reported that trade improved on the previous week’s returns, with higher prices recorded, especially for bullocks.

Speaking following the general cattle sale, he said: “The biggest day ever and as it happened on this day 31 years ago, Aurivo re-opened Balla Mart.”

“There was great buying for cattle with more farmers and other buyers around. Heavy bullocks and heifers were a great trade, while cows were quoted as making unreal prices.”

“Heavy bullocks 700kg+ were still making excellent prices over the €1,100-€1,200 over the weight,” Hannon remarked.
